Bafana has 'great belief'

Cape Town - Dean Furman insist that Bafana Bafana players have “great belief” in going all the way in the upcoming AFCON tournament.

In an interview with the official FIFA website, Furman is well aware of Bafana’s opponents and knows that getting out of Group C will be a hefty task but one that the team relishes.

“We are very excited for the tournament,” said Furman.

“We have shown some great form in the qualifying stages and hopefully we can continue this form in the tournament.

“I think the group will be very tight. We know we are coming up against some top teams and players who are competing in top leagues in the world, but we are going to Equatorial Guinea to fight.

Furman adds that their intention is to win the tournament but was on the fence on who has the best chances of winning the tournament as he sees stiff competition all over.

“We will make our nation proud and we will make our families proud. We've got great belief within our ranks, and we've got some top players and are very excited to go and showcase that at the tournament.”

“We hope to come back as winners, but right now it is hard to pick a favourite.

“All 16 teams will believe they are in with a chance. With the current holders Nigeria out, the tournament is an open one.”
