Bafana duo to miss Angola clash

Cape Town - Striker Bradley Grobler and midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni have withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of Saturday's second-leg CHAN qualifier against Angola.

The duo have been recalled by their parent clubs, SuperSport United and Chippa United respectively, following the 2-0 defeat in the first-leg tie at the weekend.

The squad will depart South Africa for Angola on Thursday and will return the following day Sunday October, 25.

According to the South African Football Association, the squad will be trimmed to 18 men ahead of their departure on Thursday.

"Of course, we have left ourselves with a mountain to climb in the second leg," said Bafana assistant coach Thabo Senong.

"Overturning a 2-0 deficit away from home won't be easy but we are not going to give in just like that. We are going to fight and fight hard."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
