Cape Town - SAFA president Danny Jordaan shared some insight into what the future has in store for Bafana Bafana while in Australia this week.
According to a report from City Press, South African football fans can look forward to seeing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on our fields in the near future.
“We have brought Spain and Brazil to play us at home and we will continue to bring countries that are in the top 10 in the world," said Jordaan.
“So you can expect the likes of Argentina with Lionel Messi, whom I’m sure would love to play in South Africa, and Portugal with Cristiano Ronaldo."
After seeing both Brazil and Spain play friendlies in recent times, SAFA has now targeted Argentina and Portugal as potential opponents for Bafana Bafana.
Jordaan also stressed the importance of friendlies against the likes of Australia and New Zealand, adding that such games were vital to grow the game internationally as well as testing the characters of our local players. Jordaan was confident that playing abroad against quality teams and partisan crowds would serve as a litmus test of the Bafana Bafana players strength.
Bafana Bafana face New Zealand on Friday morning in Auckland. The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:30 (09:30 SA time).
