Cape Town – Shakes Mashaba has called up Free State Stars striker Moeketsi Sekola to the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of the AFCON 2015 qualifiers against Sudan and Nigeria.
According to KickOff, Moeketsi Sekola has been called up to the national squad by Shakes Mashaba following the late withdrawals of May Mahlangu (fatigue) and Sibusiso Vilakazi (toe injury).
Head coach Shakes Mashaba is expected to announce the starting eleven to tackle Sudan in Bafana Bafana’s crucial AFCON 2015 qualifier.
Sekola has scored six goals this season and the 25-year-old striker has been hoping to break into the national set-up following his fine form 2014 form.
Sport24 reported earlier in the season that the Free State Stars striker had set his sights on a national call up but was not prepared to put any pressure on himself to achieve his goal.
“My goals for this season are to see the team do well both in the league and cup competition and also to see myself wearing the Bafana Bafana jersey,” said the player at the time.
Bafana Bafana will train at People’s Park later today (Thursday, November 13) at People’s Park starting at 15:00. Sudan will also train at the same time but at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi.
