Bafana assistant coach killed

2012-10-19 07:02

Johannesburg - Assistant Bafana Bafana coach Thomas Madigage has been killed in an accident near Burgersfort, Limpopo police confirmed on Friday morning.

"We can confirm that he passed away last night between 22:00 and midnight," said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.

Madigage was alone in his car on the R37 between Polokwane and Burgersfort when a donkey crossed the road.

"There was one car towing a caravan in front of him. That car managed to swerve and avoid the donkey but he could not. His car hit it."

Mulaudzi sent his condolences to the Madigage family and the soccer fraternity in South Africa.

Madigage, a long-serving assistant coach at Premiership club SuperSport United, was appointed assistant to new Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund in July.

Having joined the United coaching staff in 2002, Madigage helped the top-flight club win six titles, including three successive league crowns between 2008 and 2010.

What a loss of gud talent, may his soul rest in peace.

      clifford.sithole.5 - 2012-10-19 10:34

Why are the peple not tied up the donkeys for safety. Now there is animals running around all over all the townships

      buzzardfrey - 2012-10-20 08:29

Whilst what Clifford alludes to might not go down well with many, especially at this grim time, he is still spot on. Driving at night in rural areas requires utmost care both in terms of speed and buckling up. Roads from Pretoria and Polokwane into Burgersfort are themselves in pretty bad condition, fences along the roads torn down and resulting in animals straying on to the road. Madigage was a national asset - he will be sorely missed!

Sad loss indeed. A young life, gone. A very promising young man, whom we thought, will bring a difference in the national soccer. May his soul rest in peace. South African soccer, is shattered as of now. May God, bless and comfort his family and relatives indeed. So long, ' Shintsha Guluva' , may you rest now. God bless you.

Sad news indeed mbula, but i see the owner of the donkey is not happy, he's just given you the thumbdown for your comment.

      mukosit - 2012-10-19 14:41

@jim.amani.3 "the owner of the donkey is not happy, he's just given you the thumbdown for your comment." No, It's not a thumbdown, it's thumbup the problem is that he is left-handed. Back to topic: My his soul rest in peace.

The car in front of him saw a donkey and far behind was he? Didn't he notice the car in front swerving??? A donkey at night??? Only in Limpopo! R.I.P.

      Truth.nnete - 2012-10-19 07:21

Your parents have raised a master of insensitivity well done to them, wow. What a lad.Keep it up bro.

      peter.ndamase - 2012-10-19 10:08

Idiot of the highest order!!! And who are you to judge an incident that you never seen!

      stefans.mkhawane - 2012-10-19 10:20

Vincent, your comments are insensitive. If there is a pothole in front of you and the driver in front saw it before you and you are 60 metres behind the other car, will you be able to avoid the pothole? I think not. What happened to Thomas can happen to you one day. Your question is out of order and it shows that you are an idiot.

      matlose.makuwa.5 - 2012-10-19 10:44

Vincent you belong to yet to be explored planet. I was there at the accident scene and to see Tommy dying like that was painful. You don't knw what you are talking about. It was hurting to see that great man like he was in that wrecked car. You are headless and heartless to post a comment like this. It is hurting, disappointing and careless. Tommy will always be missed.
