Bafana held by unheralded Honduras

Cape Town - South Africa and Honduras played to a 1-1 draw in their international friendly at the Metropolitano Stadium in San Pedro Sula on Wednesday morning (SA time).

An eighth-minute goal from Erick Mathoho gave Bafana Bafana an early lead, before and Erick Andino levelled matters in the 13th minute.

The result completed a successful Central American tour for Bafana Bafana, who beat Costa Rica 1-0 in their first match last Friday.

South Africa’s locally-based squad will be in action this weekend when they face Angola in the first leg of their final round qualifier for the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Their road to the 2018 World Cup in Russia begins next month, also against Angola.
