Ajax CT snub Bafana

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane will rely on local-based players for the international friendly against Tanzania.

Bafana travel to Tanzania for their date with the East Africans on May 14 and Mosimane's aim is to prepare his team for their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt away from home.

PSL log leaders Ajax Cape Town have no players in the team after the Cape side refused to released Thulani Serero, Thulani Hlatshwayo and George Maluleka - three of the players Mosimane had intended to call up.

"I wanted Maluleka, Serero and Hlatshwayo, but Ajax felt they didn't want to release their players. Because of the Nedbank Cup semis, we left out players from Orlando Pirates and Mpumalanga Black Aces as well, but the rest of the teams gave us their players," he said.

Bafana squad:

Goalkeepers: Itumeleng Khune (Kaizer Chiefs), Wayne Sandilands (Mamelodi Sundowns)

Defenders: Morgan Gould (SuperSport United), Siyanda Xulu (Mamelodi Sundowns), Eric Mathoho, Prince Hlela (both Bloemfontein Celtic), Mzivukile Tom, Siyanda Zwane, Siyabonga Sangweni, (all Golden Arrows), Tefu Mashamaite (Bidvest Wits)

Midfielders: Hlompho Kekana (Bloemfontein Celtic), Thanduyise Khuboni (Golden Arrows), Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Siphiwe Tshabalala (both Kaizer Chiefs), Thandani Ntshumayelo (SuperSport United), Thabo Matlaba (Free State Stars), Erwin Isaacs (Santos), Sifiso Myeni (Bidvest Wits)

Strikers: Bernard Parker (Panserriakos), Vuyisile Wana (Santos), Lehlohonolo Majoro (Amazulu), Katlego Mphela (Mamelodi Sundowns)

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
