2010 FIFA World Cup was the cleanest - Blatter

Cape Town - FIFA President Sepp Blatter has attacked disgraced former FIFA Executive member Chuck Blazer for his reckless statements regarding the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

According to SAFA website, Blatter said Blazer was not morally responsible for alleging that he got bribes for the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup among other FIFA World Cup hosts, saying the 2010 global showpiece was the cleanest World Cup ever.

“Blazer is not morally responsible for alleging there was something amiss with the 2010 FIFA World Cup as that was the cleanest World Cup that has ever been done,” said Blatter this week.

The FIFA President said the world governing football body was the suffering party but it would emerge positively after the tsunami of allegations that had hit it.

SAFA said Blatter’s recent statement affirmed its long held position that there was nothing untoward regarding the money given to CONCACAF and its former President Jack Warner long after SA had won the rights to host the 2010 event.
