Another title for Mourinho

Milan - Inter Milan's fourth consecutive Serie A crown has added yet another European league title to coach Jose Mourinho's impressive collection and further underlined his self-styled reputation as "the Special One".

Inter's triumph in Mourinho's first season in charge means the Portuguese coach has now led teams to league titles in three different countries, having previously succeeded with FC Porto in his homeland and Chelsea in England. It is his fifth league title in total, having won two apiece with Porto and Chelsea.

However, there is some disappointment in northern Italy that he was unable to reproduce his success on the European stage, with Inter falling to Manchester United in the last 16 of this season's Champions League.

Mourinho was brought in with the express purpose of ending Inter's wait for Europe's premier trophy, a wait that has continued since 1965.

His European credentials were established with Porto, which he steered to the UEFA Cup in 2003 and then the Champions League a year later with a 3-0 win over Monaco in the final.

His domestic trophy success continued at Chelsea, where he described himself as "the special one" in an early news conference. A year after his Champions League triumph with Porto, Mourinho guided the west London club to its first league title for 50 years.

Helped by the wealth of Chelsea's billionaire Russian owner Roman Abramovich, he repeated that league success the following season.

Although he also led the London club to an FA Cup win and two League Cup triumphs, he was unable to bring the big prize of the Champions League to Stamford Bridge and left the club in September 2007 after differences with the owners about how the team was being run.

He arrived at Inter after the club had fired Roberto Mancini because of a lack of European success, even though the Italian coach had led the team to three straight Serie A titles.

Mourinho's first shot at the Champions League with Inter ended when it had to settle for a 0-0 draw with Manchester United at San Siro, before losing the second leg match 2-0 at Old Trafford.
