Cape Town - Bafana Bafana stalwarts Percy Tau and Bongani Zungu are both hopeful that South Africa can get the better of Morocco in their next Africa Cup of Nations clash.

According to SAFA's official website, Bafana just need to avoid defeat against Morocco on Monday (July 1) at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo to book a place in the knock-out stages of AFCON 2019.

Even though they beat neighbours Namibia by a solitary goal on Friday, Bafana created a host of chances and, with a bit of luck, could have come out with a healthier scoreline.

The three points they garnered nevertheless put them in good stead ahead of the knockout phases.

Tau, who was named man-of-the-match, said things are beginning to come together for the team.

"It was a tough game but we are work in process and we are taking it game by game and hopefully we will get the result we would like to have in the last match against Morocco.

"I think overall it was a better game than the one against Ivory Coast (which Bafana lost 1-0). The positives are that this time we converted one of our chances. In fact, we created lots of chances but unfortunately we could not take most of them. Hopefully on a better day we will able to take most of the chances that we create," he said at the post-match press conference.

Tau's sentiments were echoed by midfielder Zungu who netted the only goal against Namibia.

Zungu said the most important thing were the three points but added the team was improving as the tournament progresses.

"Happy with the three points and I hope we can get better and better from here going forward and play some good football," said Zungu, who added that the second half was more structured than the first.

"Even in the first half, we played good football but we knew they would be dangerous on the counter attacks but in the second half, we stepped up our game and we were confident that the goal would come.

"The Morocco game (on Monday) will be a tough game but we are determined to get the result and qualify for the next round."
