Shakes reveals starting XI

Cape Town - Shakes Mashaba has revealed Bafana Bafana’s starting XI for the their first Group C AFCON encounter against Algeria.

According to the official Bafana Bafana Twitter account, Mashaba has handed Dean Furman the captaincy armband while Rivaldo Coetzee makes a notable return.

Furman would be partnered up with Andile Jali in the centre of midfield having built a stern partnership since the qualifying rounds of the much anticipated tournament which has kicked off on Saturday, January 17.

Tokelo Rantie will be the lone striker upfront as Mashaba goes for strength in the centre forward role with Sibusiso Vilakazi. The 64-year-old mentor will be hoping the Bidvest Wits man can burst through Algeria's midfield and split their defence just behind the Bournemouth striker.

Kick-off is schedule for 21:00 (SA time).

Substitutes: Jackson Mabokgwane (GK), Brilliant Khuzwayo (GK), Ayanda Gcaba, Thamsanqa Sangweni, Themba Zwane, Mandla Masango, Bongani Zungu, Bernard Parker, Siyabonga Nhlapho, Bongani Ndulula.

Suspended for the match: Eric Mathoho, Reneilwe Letsholonyane.
