Shakes not depending on history

Cape Town - Shakes Mashaba does not want to be reliant on the fact that Ghana have never beaten Bafana Bafana in a AFCON encounter.

Speaking to safa.net, Mashaba hopes that Bafana can defend that record and hopes South Africa don’t get swallowed up by the moment.

“No we are not going to entertain that, don’t forget that in everyone’s life there is a first time so this might be their first time they beat us,” said Mashaba.

“Secondly, football is not like arithmetic where you talk about therefore, yes it has been said that the nation that doesn’t know their background will perish.

“We know they haven’t beaten us but we are living in the current and swallowed by the moment and it will be a good thing to maintain that record that Ghana hasn’t beaten us.”

Bafana Bafana starting XI:

Brilliant Khuzwayo (GK), Anele Ngcongca, Thabo Matlaba, Rivaldo Coetzee, Eric Mathoho, Dean Furman (C), Andile Jali, Mandla Masango, Thuso Phala, Tokelo Rantie, Bongani Ndulula.

Kick-off of both fixtures in Group C are set for 20:00.
