Bata - Following their well desired victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Wednesday night, Ivory Coast striker Wilfred Bony said it was a joyous moment for his team-mates and the rest of the country.

The Elephants defeated the Leopards 3-1 in the first semi-final of the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) at the Estadio de Bata on Wednesday, courtesy of Wilfried Kanon, Gervais Kouassi and a rocket from the skipper, Yaya Toure.

Dieudonne "Brzi" Mbokani Bezua was on target once again for the Leopards on the night.

The Manchester City forward believes the West African giants are on the right track to clinch their second continental crown but still need to prepare for the final against either Ghana or host nation, Equatorial Guinea, on Sunday.

“We are satisfied with our performance as a team,” said Bony.

“We are very happy to be in the final of the Nations Cup.

“It is a joyous moment for us as a team and for everyone in our country.

“But we still have to prepare and give all our best in order to try and take the cup to Abidjan if possible.”

It is the third time the Elephants managed to reach the final in the last five continental spectacles.

They last reached the final when they lost to their current coach Herve Renard’s Zambian team, in 2012 in Libreville, Gabon.

Heading into this year’s much anticipated final, the Elephants will be looking to add another crown to the one won in 1992.

It remains to be seen who will meet Renard’s troops on Sunday in Bata.
