Ibenge names DRC squad

Kinshasa - DR Congo coach Florent Ibenge on Friday named a 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea from 17 January 17 to 8 February.

Seven players from the local league have been included along with AS Vita Club striker Firmin Mubele Ndombe, who was Thursday named the top player competing on the African continent by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Dynamo Kiev striker Dieumerci Mbokani and Charleroi goalkeeper Parfait Mandanda, younger brother of France international and Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, who did not play in qualifying matches because of injury have been included.

DR Congo, winners in 1968 and 1974, are in Group B where they will face Cape Verde, Tunisia and 2012 champions Zambia.

DR Congo 23-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Robert Kidiaba (TP Mazembe), Parfait Mandanda (Charleroi/BEL), Nicaise Kudimbana (Anderlecht/BEL).

Defenders: Jean Kaususuka (TP Mazembe), Jol Kimwaki (TP Mazembe), Isama Mpeko (Kabuscorp/ANG), Mabele Bawaka (Vita Club), Chancel Mbemba (Anderlecht/BEL), Cedric Mongongu (Evian/FRA), Christopher Oualembo (Academica Coimbra/POR), Gabriel Zakuani (Peterborough/D3/ENG).

Midfielders: Herve Kage (Genk/BEL), Neeskens Kebano (Charleroi/BEL), Lema Mabidi (Vita Club), Nelson Munganga (Vita Club), Cedric Makiadi (Werder Bremen/GER), Youssouf Mulumbu (West Bromwich/ENG).

Strikers: Jeremy Bokila (Terek Grozny/RUS), Yannick Bolasie (Crystal Palace/ENG), Junior Kabananga (Cercle Brugge/BEL), Firmin Mubele Ndombe (Vita Club), Cedric Mabwati (Osasuna/D2/ESP), Dieumerci Mbokani (Dynamo Kiev/UKR)
