Furman: We value the support

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana captain Dean Furman reveals that the South African support is truly valuable to the players.

Speaking to safa.net, Furman admits that the Bafana players all want to make the country proud and they are aware of the support.

“We have been working on what we need to improve on, looking at the past two games,” said Furman.

“We have had talks among ourselves and hopefully it will be showing in the game. It would be great for all the fans of Bafana Bafana and all our followers to celebrate victory.

“We know how much it means to them; we value their support and all messages on social media as well as the Minister of Sport who is over here to support us and bringing messages of good luck from back home.

“We want to give them a team that will make them celebrate, we know what is at stake and we want to make our nation proud of us.”

The England-based midfielder says like all teams in the tournament are feeling the pressure and knows that Ghana won’t be an easy team to beat as both teams search a win.

“Ghana is a very good team. They have very good players and also have a very good record in AFCON and we know all about that but tonight’s game is 90 minutes – and it’s going to be a fight out there.

“No one will dwell on the past or on the history. When that whistle goes we will be thinking about our jobs, we will be thinking about what the coach’s instructions are, we will be thinking about winning the game and that’s all that’s important to us,” added the Bafana captain.

Bafana Bafana starting XI:

Brilliant Khuzwayo (GK), Anele Ngcongca, Thabo Matlaba, Rivaldo Coetzee, Eric Mathoho, Dean Furman (C), Andile Jali, Mandla Masango, Thuso Phala, Tokelo Rantie, Bongani Ndulula.

Kick-off of both fixtures in Group C are set for 20:00 (SA time).
