WATCH: Schalk Burger lucky to get away with dangerous cleanout?

Cape Town - Springbok legend Schalk Burger was the centre of attention over the weekend following a potentially dangerous cleanout while on Saracens duty against Lyon.

The incident happened in the 21st minute of the European Champions Cup clash between the sides on Sunday, which Saracens went on to win 28-10.

Burger approached a ruck and proceed to cleanout Lyon No 8 Deon Fourie, but Burger's method caused a bit of a stir on social media with many believing it was illegal.

Burger lifted Fourie's legs in a 'tip-tackle' style, but he was not punished at all.

Former Fiji Sevens coach Ben Ryan was one of those to notice the incident and he took to social media to refer to Burger's method as a 'Wild West clearout'.

Burger, meanwhile, is in his final season with Saracens.

The incident can be viewed below.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
