2018-02-01 10:24

Cape Town - Former Springbok Ruan Pienaar was booed in a French Top 14 game this past weekend after taking the full 90 seconds to slot a match-winning conversion.

The scrumhalf kicked 15 points in Montpellier’s 30-29 win at Clermont but copped flak after taking as long as he possibly could to take the conversion.

Trailing 29-23 with less than two minutes remaining, Montpellier scored a try next to the posts, leaving Pienaar with an easy conversion to win the match.

Knowing the rules, Pienaar waiting for the clock to wind down before taking the conversion.

He was booed by the home crowd but looked unperturbed as he slotted the crucial kick.
