WATCH: Ruan Ackermann settles in Gloucester

Cape Town - Ruan Ackermann has arrived in Gloucester where he will start his new venture in the English Premiership.

The 21-year-old has joined his father, Johan Ackermann, at the club after the pair left the Lions at the end of the Super Rugby season.

In an interview that the club posted on their Twitter page on Friday, Ruan Ackermann said that both he and his father had found everyone at the club friendly upon their arrival.

The interview also reveled that some of the Gloucester players had found Johan Ackermann's early training sessions physically demanding, but Ruan Ackermann said he was used to it.

With his form in 2017 having resulted in him being tipped for Springbok honours, Ruan Ackermann will now have to wait until 2019 before he can get a national call-up in line with SA Rugby's new policy on overseas-based players.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
