The hearing is scheduled for June 8 in La Rochelle.
"Lopeti Timani is being prosecuted for violence with a weapon for throwing a bottle into the faces of bouncers, who are themselves being prosecuted for organised violence," deputy public prosecutor Clement Incerti told AFP.
Timani, a Tongan-born back-row forward, has played 12 times for Australia.
According to reports in the regional press, last May he threw the bottle at two bouncers. One suffered a face wound that forced him to miss at least eight days' work.
The bouncers then reportedly retaliated together, without causing Timani any serious injuries.
