Wales trio rely on wild-card picks

Cardiff - George North, Jamie Roberts and Taulupe Faletau are on a seven-man list of overseas-based Wales rugby players who will require wild-card selections to play for the country this season.

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) says only three of the seven players can be selected for each international campaign in a policy being labeled "Gatland's Law," after head coach Warren Gatland.

Rhys Priestland, Dominic Day, Nicky Thomas and Rhodri Williams are the other players on the list.

North, Roberts and Faletau - all key national-team stalwarts who play for English clubs - are likely to be the players selected by the Welsh.

The WRU said on Friday that the selection policy is aimed at ensuring players play domestic rugby in Wales.

Wales names its squad for the November Tests on October 18.
