Cape Town - Former Springbok assistant coach Brendan Venter has concluded his stint as technical assistant to English club London Irish.

Venter, 48, had spent the past month assisting London Irish and while the club was keen to hold on to the former Springbok centre’s services, he opted against a full-time position.

Venter, who has a medical practice in Strand near Cape Town, last week confirmed on his official Twitter account that he had said no to the position of London Irish’s technical director.

London Irish, meanwhile, confirmed on their official website that former Ireland and Munster coach Declan Kidney will now be their technical director, with Less Kiss the head coach.

They also confirmed that Venter had left the club with immediate effect.

Venter was also the Springboks’ defence and exits consultant during the tenure of Allister Coetzee, while also working with the Italian national team on a consultancy basis.

Venter was not retained in any capacity when Rassie Erasmus took over at the helm of the national side earlier this year.
