Toulon's Drew Mitchell out for two months

Toulon - Australian international winger Drew Mitchell will be out for at least eight weeks after the Toulon star injured his thigh in last week's clash with Bordeaux, coach Mike Ford said Saturday.

The 32-year-old went off midway through the 37-10 Top 14 win, having already had to limit himself to three appearances this term after returning from international duty with groin trouble.

To cover his absence, Toulon this week signed versatile South African Cornal Hendricks on a deal through to the end of the season.

Mitchell joins compatriot Matt Giteau on the sidelines as the latter overcomes an ankle injury.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
