Toulon snap up Alesana Tuilagi

Toulon - Toulon have signed giant Samoan wing Alesana Tuilagi to cover for injured fellow veteran Vincent Clerc.

Clerc will be out for up to five months after rupturing his left Achilles tendon.

The 67-time capped France player remains the top scorer in the European Cup competition with 36 tries, although Chris Ashton has moved to within two of that mark after scoring a brace in Saracens' 22-22 draw with Scarlets on the weekend.

The 35-year-old Tuilagi, one of six rugby-playing brothers including England international Manu and an integral part of the Leicester team that won the English Premiership in 2007, 2009 and 2010, also previously played for Newcastle Falcons and Japanese club Shining Arcs de Chiba.
