Toulon recruit Aussie back Jonah Placid

Marseille - Australian utility back Jonah Placid has joined Top-14 runners up Toulon on a two-year deal from Super Rugby side Melbourne Rebels, the French club said on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old who can play fullback, wing or centre was capped 10 times for Australia's under-20's side in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

"We have just recruited, for this season and the next one at least, Jonah Placid," Toulon said on their website.

Placid will join England winger Chris Ashton, who joined Toulon earlier this month from Saracens on a three-year contract.
