Toulon cut ties with ex-Wallaby Ma'afu

Toulon - French Top 14 champions Toulon reached a "mutual agreement" to terminate the contract of ex-Wallaby prop Salesi Ma'afu on Wednesday, club president Mourad Boudjellal announced.

Ma'afu, 32, was handed a suspended four-month prison sentence on November 10 after being found guilty of assault following an altercation over a parking spot in August.

Toulon will bring in Fijian international prop Manasa Saulo to replace Ma'afu, who only moved to France from Northampton this past summer, although Saulo is suspended until January 16 after receiving a 10-week ban for stamping at the Rugby World Cup.

The reigning three-time European champions will also be without US international Samu Manoa for four weeks after he injured his knee during Sunday's 24-9 European Champions Cup victory over Leinster.
