Stormers relishing Jaguares challenge

Cape Town - The Stormers are looking forward to testing themselves against Vodacom Super Rugby newcomers, the Jaguares, in their pre-season friendly at DHL Newlands on February 13.

The team from Argentina boasts a formidable squad which features a large number of the Pumas' 2015 World Cup stars, and should prove a stern test for the Stormers.

Tickets for the match go on sale from 12.00 on February 2, at a cost of R50 each on a first-come first-serve basis, and with the season ticket renewal process still underway season tickets will not be valid for the friendly - the first opportunity for the DHL Newlands faithful to see their favourite players, and new signings, in action this season.

The DHL Stormers' first pre-season friendly will be against the South Western District Eagles in George on Saturday, January 30.

DHL Stormers head coach Robbie Fleck said that the two pre-season fixtures should give the squad a good opportunity to execute what they have been working on in training.

"It has been a tough pre-season conditioning phase, so it will be good to see what sort of progress we have made when we face the Eagles and the Jaguares.

“After these two games we hope to have a clear idea of where we are, so that come the start of Vodacom Super Rugby we have a squad who are match ready.

"It will be good to go back to George where we enjoyed great support from the public on our training camp, before facing a potent Jaguares side back home at DHL Newlands.

“The Jaguares have the potential to surprise a lot of people this season, so it will be a great test for us to ensure we are ready to make a strong start to the competition,” said Fleck.

DHL Stormers fans can renew or buy new season tickets now for what will be a bumper year in 2016 with Vodacom Super Rugby, Currie Cup and a Springbok Test against Ireland to look forward to.
