The 32-year-old Palisson has 21 France caps. He has played for Brive, Toulon, Toulouse and, most recently, Lyon, where he played one game this season.

Combrinck, who has seven South African caps, has only played twice in the Top 14 this season and Stade are hovering just above the relegation zone in the table.

Stade said Palisson needed to pass a medical.

Lyon tweeted their support saying: "good luck in your new challenge."
