Boks, Proteas lead the way in honouring Madiba

Cape Town - The South African sports community joined the rest of the country in celebrating former President Nelson Mandela on what would have been his 100th birthday.

There have also been wishes from the broader sporting community, such as Indian cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar, but here we look at some of the sporting institutions and individuals to have honoured Madiba from within South African borders.

We will be updating this story throughout the day, including any wishes we see from prominent South African sporting figures. 

Mandela's contribution to South African sport will never be forgotten, with his role in uniting a divided country during the 1995 Rugby World Cup one of the great stories in our nation's history.
