Rugby league convert Barba joins Toulon

Paris - French Top 14 giants Toulon on Tuesday recruited Australian Ben Barba, who is switching codes from rugby league.

The 27-year-old was clubless after being released from his contract with Cronulla Sharks last November.

He was let go after testing positive for cocaine in the days after the team beat Melbourne Storm to end their 49-year National Rugby League title drought in October.

Barba has joined Toulon for the rest of the season and could make his debut for the three-time European champions when the Top 14 resumes after the Six Nations break against Lyon on February 18.
