Cape Town - Wales flank Sam Warburton has all but been confirmed as the British and Irish Lions captain after a photo leak on Wednesday.
Warburton is due to be confirmed as Lions captain at Wednesday’s press conference at a hotel in London, when the squad will be revealed.
He would become the second player ever to be named Lions captain on two tours, after Martin Johnson led the side in 1997 and 2001.
In addition, World Rugby CEO Brett Gosper tweeted on Wednesday morning: Many congratulations to @samwarburton_on becoming only the second player, after Martin Johnson, to captain two @lionsofficialtours.
What a lovely photo of a great Cardiff player. A very, very special player. Congratulations, Sam pic.twitter.com/faG5EtlM0C
