Cape Town - Tuesday, February 6, 2018 marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of former Springbok scrumhalf Joost van der Westhuizen.

Van der Westhuizen, who was 45 at the time, died at his home surrounded by loved ones on February 6, 2017.

He lost a brave battle to motor neuron disease, having first been diagnosed with the illness in 2011.

The former Springbok captain played 89 Tests for the Springboks between 1993 and 2003.

He scored a then-Springbok record 38 tries and is widely regarded as one of the game’s finest-ever No 9s.
