Cape Town - Prop Sti Sithole and lock Tjiuee Uanivi have joined the Southern Kings squad as they prepare for Super Rugby.
The 22-year-old Sithole is contracted to Western Province and played for the Stormers in their first pre-season match against the SWD Eagles in George a fortnight ago.
However, the Stormers have enough depth in the front row division and with Schalk Ferreira the only loosehead prop in the Kings squad, Sithole has been drafted in.
Uanivi, who starred for Namibia at last year’s Rugby World Cup in England, has also joined the Kings and, together with Sithole, could make his debut for the franchise in their pre-season warm-up against the Cheetahs on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Kings have a few injuries following their 22-16 pre-season win against the SWD Eagles in George last Friday.
Head coach, Deon Davids, said hooker Edgar Marutlulle had sustained a blow to the head which resulted in a cut to the ear, while prop Jacobie Adriaanse suffered concussion.
According to Davids, lock Schalk Oelofse also sustained a minor calf strain and was being monitored.
Davids said he was very happy with the first friendly against SWD, which had allowed coaches to focus on combinations, as well as improving the team's performance.
