London - English Premiership side Gloucester announced the signing of Munster lock Gerbrandt Grobler for the 2018/19 season on Monday.
The giant 119kg, 2.01m South African joined the Irish side last year from Top 14 outfit Racing 92.
The 26-year-old was suspended for two years over a failed drugs test during the 2014 Currie Cup in South Africa.
"Over the past couple of seasons, Gerbrandt has developed into a
top-quality second row and made a big impression during his time at
Racing and Munster Rugby," said Gloucester director of rugby David
Humphreys.
"We are excited to add another young, dynamic forward to our squad, and he will add a lot of quality and options to our pack," he added.
Grobler said he was excited to make the switch, adding: "Gloucester are a club that are on the up, and I want to be part of something with the same ambitions and goals as me. I want to be part of something that is building, and spend my future here."
Gloucester are currently coached by former Lions boss, Johan Ackermann.
