Lock blow for Stormers

Cape Town - The Stormers have received a setback with the news that lock Jean Kleyn could be sidelined for up to four months with a wrist injury.

According to Netwerk24, Kleyn sustained the injury in last Saturday’s pre-season win over the Jaguares at Newlands.

Kleyn, 22, would have served as back-up to Eben Etzebeth in the No 4 lock position, but now looks set to miss a large part of the Stormers' season.

Although the full extent of the injury has not been confirmed, forwards coach Russell Winter hinted that Rynhardt Elstadt, who is vying for a spot in the loose trio, might be utilised in the second row.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
