Greenwood expects Jones to rotate England players

Cape Town - Former England centre Will Greenwood believes England head coach Eddie Jones may rotate his side during the upcoming end-of-year Tests.

England will take on Argentina, Australia and Samoa on home soil and Greenwood said judging from recent comments made by Jones, it looks like he might rest some of his first-choice players.

"He (Jones) has said that everything now is about 2019 - when the Rugby World Cup is held in Japan - not just about the short-term wins," Greenwood told Sky Sports.

"Now clearly, he'll want the short term wins. But that (comment) just suggested something that he has intimated before.

"That actually, some of his British and Irish Lions players that have put big shifts in over the past 12 to 18 months, not just physically but emotionally, in order to wear that famous red jersey, that perhaps he might just save them for a couple of the (upcoming) games.

"For the Argentina game and also Samoa and then he might roll them out for Australia. He might just say 'You know what, Maro Itoje, have a little rest, take a little breather.'
