Cape Town - The South African-born duo of Peter Grant and Marcel Brache have committed themselves to the Western Force, as Western Australian rugby enters a new era.
According to The West Australian, the former Stormers duo will play for the Force in Australia's National Rugby Championship (NRC).
Flyhalf Grant played five Tests for the Springboks, while midfielder Brache has played eight Tests for the United States.
They are also likely to be in the mix for the Indo Pacific Rugby Championship squad when the competition kicks off in March next year.
The Western Force lost their Super Rugby status last year when tournament organisers reduced the number of teams from 18 to 15.
South Africa's Cheetahs and Southern Kings also lost their Super Rugby status but have since found a new home in Europe's PRO14.
Matt Hodgson, former Force captain and current IPRC head of elite performance, hailed Grant and Brache's commitment to the Force.
“The NRC is a big thing for WA this year. We need a professional element and these two boys will lead the way,” Hodgson said.
“Peter and Marcel were among players left in limbo when the Force was closed and we always said we would look after boys if opportunities did not arise elsewhere."
