France flyhalf Jalibert out for 6 months

Bordeaux - Matthieu Jalibert, the teenage flyhalf who tore a knee ligament on his France debut in February, has reinjured the knee and will be out for six months, his club Bordeaux-Begles said on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old suffered the fresh injury in the first half of a pre-season friendly against the Sharks in South Africa last Friday.

He underwent a medical examination on Tuesday, which Bordeaux said revealed "a recurrence of a posterior cruciate ligament injury requiring surgical reconstruction".

"He will be out for a minimum of six months," the club said.

Last season, Jalibert did not play again after suffering a partial rupture of a ligament in his left knee and coming off after 29 minutes of his first international against Ireland in the Six Nations on February 3.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
