Du Plessis joins Montpellier

Cape Town - Bayonne flyhalf Willie du Plessis has signed for Top 14 rivals Montpellier on a short-term deal.

The former Cheetahs No 10, who is 26, has made the move to Montpellier until the end of the current season.

Du Plessis first move to France around the time of the 2015 Rugby World Cup where he linked up with high-flyers Toulon as a ‘World Cup joker’, before completing his move to Bayonne.

After the end of the current campaign he will return to Bayonne to prepare for the following 2017/18 season.
