Dan Carter named MVP in Japanese Top League

Cape Town - All Black legend Dan Carter has been named the MVP of the Japanese Top League after guiding the Kobe Kobelco Steelers to the title.

The 36-year-old kicked five conversions and a penalty on Saturday as the Steelers thrashed the Suntory Sungoliath 55-5 in the competition final.

It was Carter's first season in Japan having joined from French giants Racing 92.

Carter was also named top kicker with an 86.2% success rate throughout the season.

Carter is a two-time World Cup champion, a nine-time Rugby Championship winner and a three-time Super Rugby winner with the Crusaders.

He is also the leading Test points scorer in rugby history.
