Cape Town - Elliot Daly has credited England head coach Eddie Jones for instilling confidence in his ability to play on the wing.
Daly scored a brace of tries against Samoa, during England’s 48-14 win at Twickenham on Saturday, and says he is happy to play in whatever position Jones wants moving forward.
“Eddie gave me great confidence when I first started playing on the wing,” the 25-year-old explained.
“He told me to play like a centre and defend on the wing, and that is exactly what I do, just try and get my hands on the ball.
“I just want to be involved in this England squad wherever that is, or whatever position that is in.”
The win against Samoa acted as England’s ninth of the year, and with it they secured an unbeaten run in the November Test series, having recorded victories over Australia and Argentina in the two weeks prior.
"We got three wins out of three and that is exactly what we wanted to do," added Daly. "Argentina, Australia and Samoa all produced different challenges, and they tested us as a squad, but we did well."
And Daly is optimistic about 2018, stating England can only get better, but admits there are still things to work on individually and as a squad.
“The good thing is we all want to get better, so everyone is pushing each other in training, and we can see that in the results we are getting but we need to put the performances together,” he added.
“It is all about the next game for us, we will reflect on this series, see what we can do better as a squad and bring it into the Six Nations next year.”
It has been a whirlwind year for the Wasps flyer, having scored 28 points in eight appearances for England, and starting in three British & Irish Lions Tests against New Zealand.
Nevertheless, as the international window closes for three months, Daly stresses the need for personal improvement in that time.
“The skill-set of a back three player is different to a centre, so I will be looking to increase my footwork,” he said.
“There is a lot for me to work on, and it will be a challenge, but certainly one I am looking forward to.”
