Carter succeeds Burger in comeback award

Cape Town - Legendary All Black flyhalf Dan Carter was on Monday honoured with the Laureus Comeback of the Year Award at a ceremony in Berlin.

Carter succeeds Springbok flank Schalk Burger, who won the award last year.

On a glittering evening that recognised the outstanding sporting achievements of 2015, rugby was a big winner, with the world champion All Blacks receiving the Laureus Team Award.

“It’s nice to be recognised for the year I had in 2015. It was a very special year, not only for me, but also for the All Blacks and to be a part of that was amazing,” Carter said.

Tennis world No 1 Novak Djokovic won the major event of the night when he was crowned World Sportsman of the Year.
