Bishops First XV coach stabbed in home attack

Cape Town - The First XV coach of renowned Cape Town school, Bishops, is in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed by burglers at his home in Claremont.

According to the school, Richard Smith was seriously injured in a robbery in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Smith suffered severe brain trauma and was rushed to Vincent Pallotti hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

His wife, Nina, and children, Laura and Sebastian, were left severely traumatised by the incident, but thankfully uninjured.

Bishops, who are set to play arch-rivals Rondebosch in their annual derby clash on Saturday, paid an emotional tribute to their coach.
