Aussie veteran Ashley-Cooper lands in Japan

Bordeaux - Australian international wing Adam Ashley-Cooper has joined the Kobelco Steelers following his release from French Top 14 side Bordeaux-Begles, the Japanese club said on Friday.

The 33-year-old, capped 116 times by the Wallabies, spent two seasons at Bordeaux after moving to France following Australia's run to the 2015 World Cup final.

The former Brumbies and Waratahs player scored 13 tries in 37 appearances for Bordeaux but was informed by the club in January that his contract would not be extended.

Ashley-Cooper, a veteran of three World Cups, turned out for the Barbarians last month in a 28-14 defeat to England at Twickenham.
