Edinburgh - Argentina captain Agustin Creevy believes the pain his side still feel from their last visit to Murrayfield will inspire the Pumas when they return to Scotland's home ground on Saturday.
Two years ago Scotland beat Argentina 41-31 at the Edinburgh
venue but the final margin of victory could have been much greater had the home
side not slackened off in the final 10 minutes to allow the Pumas to score
three tries.
Argentina have however have improved significantly since
then, reaching the semi-finals of last year's World Cup and recording Rugby
Championship wins over Australia and South Africa.
"The memory of the last game in Murrayfield is still
with us," said Creevy.
"They gave us a lesson and we know that we cannot relax
because they were able to get us 40 points as in 2014," the hooker added.
"They know how to play and that's why it's a nice
rematch for us and it's going to be a good match to see where we are."
Saturday's match sees both sides looking to bounce back from
defeats, with Argentina going down 24-20 to Wales in Cardiff last week while
the Scots were edged out 23-22 by Australia.
It also has added significance in that both Argentina and
Scotland are battling for a place in the top eight of the international
standings.
Argentina need to retain a top-eight position to avoid the
prospect of being drawn to face two nations from the upper two tiers in the
pool stages of the 2019 World Cup in Japan.
The Pumas only have two more chances to gain ranking points
before May's pool draw - against Scotland on Saturday and next week's clash
with England at Twickenham.
They will be overtaken by Scotland, currently ninth in the
standings, if they fail to win at Murrayfield.
"Taking into account the amount of times that we play, this will be one of the most important matches of the year," said Creevy. "Scotland is a very difficult rival but we will try to implement our game."
