Argentina completes unbeaten run to Americas Rugby title

Montevideo - Argentina routed Chile 85-10 to complete an unbeaten run to the Americas Rugby Championship crown Saturday while Uruguay beat Brazil 42-20 to seize second place from the United States.

The second-tier Argentine side ended a two-year US reign in the North and South American version of Europe's Six Nations tournament.

Argentina rolled to a 40-3 half-time advantage at Santiago and crushed the Condores, who finished winless for a third consecutive Americas tournament.

In the concluder at Montevideo, Brazil seized a 15-3 lead before Uruguay rallied, finally seizing the lead at 21-20 on Franco Lamanna's try and Felipe Berchesi's conversion kick in the 53rd minute.

The host Teros stretched the edge to 28-20 in the 64th minute on Juan Manuel Cat's try but a red card on Andres Vilaseca in the 69th minute left Uruguay needing one more try to secure the bonus point to pass the US Eagles.

German Kessler, who had pulled Uruguay within 15-11 on a try in the 38th minute, added another to put the Teros over the line and Juan Diego Ormaechea scored a final try for the hosts.

The Tupis had tries from Lucas Duque, Dan Sancery and Lucas Tranquez.

Argentina topped the final table at 5-0 with Uruguay second on 4-1 with 18 points and the United States third at 3-2 on 17 points.

Brazil was fourth on 2-3 for nine points with Canada fifth on 1-4 and seven points and Chile 0-5 with a lone bonus point.
