De Villiers receives attention after a clash of heads with Nanai-Williams. He's soon up and running and ready for action.
TRY, SOUTH AFRICA, BURGER! 29-6. The Boks win a turnover at a line-out close to Samoa's tryline and first strike out wide with their backs. Pollard has a crack at the line but is topped just short. The ball is recycled and comes out to Schalk burger who crashes over with two defenders on his back!

It'sa bold attempt but although he has the distance, it's well wide of the target. That's the final act of the half and the sides head in to the sheds for a deserved break. The Boks deserve their lead as they've taken control of proceedings as the half progressed. Samoa made a solid start but have fallen of the pace during the latter stages of the half. Don't go away! We'll return in 10 minutes with the second half.

Good day and welcome to our live coverage of this crucial Pool B Rugby World Cup encounter between South Africa and Samoa from Villa Park in Birmingham. The Springboks are hurting after their shock defeat to Japan last week while Samoa have their tails up as they kicked off their campaign with a win over the USA. We'll return shortly with team news!
South Africa coach Heyneke Meyer has made ten changes to his starting XV after that lost to Japan. There are eight changes in personnel plus two positional switches. They have also included two new front rowers on the bench. Adriaan Strauss, who will win his 50th cap, is the starting hooker, while Duane Vermeulen will make his first Test appearance of the year in the number eight jersey. Willie le Roux, JP Pietersen and Damian De Allende return in the backline - with skipper Jean de Villiers shifting to outside centre - while there are new halfbacks in Handré Pollard and Fourie du Preez. In the pack, Eben Etzebeth returns to the starting line-up with Vermeulen and Strauss. On the bench, Schalk Brits and Frans Malherbe make their first appearance on a Rugby World Cup teamsheet.
Head coach Stephen Betham has made three changes to Samoa's starting XV from the 25-16 win over USA with Mike Stanley, TJ Ioane and Motu Matu'u all coming into the team for their first RWC starts. Stanley and Matu'u both played off the bench in the win over the USA, but are now in the starting team at the expense of Tusi Pisi and Ole Avei, respectively, who both move to the bench. Ioane comes into the team from outside the first matchday 23 to replace Maurie Fa'asavalu in the back row, and there are also some changes on the bench, with Vavea Tuilagi and George Pisi earning places on the bench.
All three Pisi brothers (Ken, Tusi and George) could be on the field at the same time for Samoa, if Tusi and George come off the bench, while Vavae Tuilagi could also join older brother Alesana if he gets on. Vavae would become the fifth of six brothers to play RWC rugby after Fereti (1995), Henry (2007), Alesana (2007, 2011, 2015) and Manusamoa (ENG, 2011), leaving Anitelea as the only brother without RWC experience. Anitelea was part of Samoa's RWC 2007 squad, but was replaced before Samoa's second match due to injury. This will be the ninth match between these two countries with South Africa on the winning side in the previous eight Tests. The Springboks and Samoa have faced each other four times at the Rugby World Cup with the Springboks? biggest win registered in 2007 in France (59-7). In this Test Bryan Habana scored four tries. A Springbok RWC record shared with Chester Williams who crossed the tryline four times, also against Samoa, in 1995. Both players achieved their record while playing on the left wing. The total Test caps for the Springbok starting line-up is 891 ? a Springbok record yet again. The previous most experienced side (851 caps) played against Japan last week.
The teams line up for their anthems before Alesana Tuilagi leads Samoa during a stirring version of the Siva Tau!
