Ireland are pinged for offside and Canada take it quickly. Van der Merwe is over on the left but it looks like a knock-on in the build-up. We're going to the TMO...
There was a knock-on from Hirayama with the final pass. Unfortunate for Canada who deserved something from that passage. That will be half-time and it's been a dominant 40 minutes from the men in green.
IRELAND 29-0 CANADA!
Canada have their hands on the ball about 30 metres out. Can they get on the board before the break?

CONVERSION, SEXTON! 29-0: Sexton adds the extras and this half couldn't have gone any better for the Irish.

Hello and welcome to the opening game of Pool D as Ireland take on Canada in Cardiff. The Canadians have won just two of their last 13 games while Ireland are hoping to get past the quarter-finals for the first time at a World Cup.
Joe Schmidt has gone on form with his selection, as Iain Henderson is preferred to Devin Toner in the second row, and Dave Kearney and Keith Earls start on the wing, with no place for Tommy Bowe. An injury to Robbie Henshaw sees Luke Fitzgerald start at inside centre.
Canada are taking no risks with number eight Tyler Ardron who has been struggling with a knee injury. As a result Jamie Cudmore captains the team while there are eight World Cup debutants in the run-on team.
Here we go. Johnny Sexton will get us underway and we're off!
