Joe Moody to join All Blacks

Wellington - Eight-Test prop Joe Moody left New Zealand for England on Saturday as the All Blacks hastily responded to a hamstring injury which may have ruled veteran Tony Woodcock out of the remainder of the Rugby World Cup.

Moody, 27, who made all of his Test appearances last season, was due to play for his Canterbury province in a National Championship match on Saturday but instead headed to the airport.

Woodcock limped from the field on Friday during the All Blacks' 47-9 win over Tonga in their final pool match. He suffered what is thought to be a serious hamstring strain which may have ended his World Cup and his All Blacks career after 118 tests.

Woodcock is due to retire when the World Cup ends.
