Boks' record against the All Blacks is dire

London - South Africa's rugby rivalry against New Zealand stretches back some 94 years, to August 13, 1921, when the two teams first clashed in Dunedin.

The two power-houses of the game have met on an incredible 91 occasions, with the All Blacks holding a 53-35 advantage, with three matches drawn.

However, in recent years (2010 to date) it hasn't been so much of a rivalry as a drubbing - in New Zealand's favour.

In the last 13 encounters over the past six years, the Springboks have only managed a mere two victories (15%). Both those wins came in South Africa (Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg), while the All Blacks have crucially recorded five wins away from home (four in SA, one in London).

Importantly, having lost their first two Rugby World Cup clashes, the All Blacks have now "squared" the ledger in that regard as well.

In 1995 the Boks memorably won 15-12 after extra-time in the final in Johannesburg, thanks to a Joel Stransky drop goal.

In 1999 the Springboks once again emerged victorious, this time 22-18 in their third/fourth place playoff match at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

New Zealand were winners in 2003 in the quarter-finals in Melbourne where they won 29-9 and tasted most recent success on Saturday in their 2015 semi-final at Twickenham (20-18).

For all coach Heyneke Meyer's talk about the Boks having "youth on their side" and a current "core of players that will shine in Japan in 2019", does he honestly believe that no other country has youngsters waiting to break through?

Mark my words the All Blacks - and other countries too - WILL have world beaters in 2019 that aren't even playing Test rugby today!

The All Blacks' skill and talent, especially on attack, is light years ahead of what the Springboks possess at present.

Looking at the stats from Saturday's Test paints a dire picture - and the urgent need for a radical change in gameplan from the men in Green and Gold.
