London - Social media was quick to react to Craig Joubert's controversial handling of the Australia v Scotland Rugby World Cup quarter-final at Twickenham on Sunday.
As it happened: Australia v Scotland
Joubert came in for widespread criticism of his awarding of a last-minute match-deciding penalty to the Wallabies, as well as a yellow card to Scotland wing Sean Maitland for a professional foul.
Joubert was seen sprinting from the field of play as he blew the final whistle, not sticking around to congratulate - nor commiserate - with either team, which smacked of 'I've made a mistake'.
Whether Joubert is selected for the semi-finals, third/fourth playoff or final, remains to be seen.
